The Department of Computer Science was established in the College of Science at Tikrit University in 1999 and began attracting students with the aim of providing the community with scientific cadres qualified to work in the field of computer science, equipped with the latest theoretical and practical expertise in designing and building software systems, computer networking techniques, and preparing software in various scientific specializations that face them in practical life after graduation, whether It was on the academic or applied side so that they would be qualified to work in institutions and continue their higher studies and be prepared for all the innovations in the field of computer science. In addition to holding qualifying and training courses by the teaching staff in the department since its establishment for all employees of the public and private sectors inside and outside Saladin Governorate in various fields related to computer science and providing scientific consultations to all departments of the state.

The Department of Mathematics was established in the College of Science in the academic year 2002-2003. Make efforts to instill a love of the specialty among the department’s students by clarifying the importance of mathematics and its uses in various areas of life. Preparing outstanding students as a first step towards completing their postgraduate studies to obtain a master’s degree and doctorate, of which the country suffers from a significant shortage.  Preparing specialized cadres to work in various state institutions in the fields of modeling, operations research, statistics, and computers. The need remains for graduates of mathematics departments to work in secondary education in addition to working in mathematics departments as research assistants.
