Under the slogan “Our Language Is a Renewed Identity,” Tikrit University Celebrates World Arabic Language Day

Under the patronage and in the presence of Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, President of Tikrit University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, the College of Education for Human Sciences held a celebratory event on Sunday, 21/12/2025, at Al-Khwarizmi Hall, marking World Arabic Language Day under the slogan “Our Language Is a Renewed Identity.”

The ceremony opened with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the Iraqi national anthem and the Tikrit University anthem. The Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences then delivered a speech highlighting the great status of the Arabic language as the language of religion chosen by Almighty God to be the language of His Holy Book. He also noted the college’s commitment to holding such celebrations annually, in conjunction with the day on which the United Nations designated Arabic as one of its official languages.

The event featured a variety of literary and cultural segments, including poetic recitations presented by Professor Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa Al-Hamad and poet Safana Amer, expressing the beauty, authenticity, and civilizational stature of the Arabic language.

The celebration also included a video presentation addressing the global spread of the Arabic language and its cultural and scientific role, in addition to a scientific lecture titled “The Arabic Language and Artificial Intelligence,” delivered by Professor Dr. Ayman Abdullah Ahmed. The lecture discussed the relationship between the Arabic language and modern technologies and the importance of keeping pace with digital developments, along with another lecture on the merits of the Arabic language and its impact on building cultural and cognitive identity.

The event witnessed broad attendance by academics, intellectuals, students, and a large number of Arabic language enthusiasts, all emphasizing the importance of preserving the Arabic language and strengthening its presence in various scientific and cultural fields.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the President of Tikrit University honored the top students of the Arabic Language Department by awarding them certificates of appreciation in recognition of their academic excellence and as encouragement to continue their academic and linguistic journey.
