The College of Computer Science and Mathematics at Tikrit University, under the patronage of University President Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, launched an expanded awareness forum on 26–27 November 2025 as part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Awareness Week, aiming to raise awareness among students and the academic community about the dangers of drug abuse.
The event opened with an awareness exhibition showcasing posters and creative works by students highlighting the risks of drugs and methods of prevention. This was followed by a speech delivered by the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, who emphasized the university’s role in fostering societal awareness and promoting preventive behaviors.
The forum featured visual presentations and a segment by students from the Distinguished Students School, in addition to three specialized scientific sessions with participation from the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, the Community Police, and experts in psychiatry, behavior, and addiction. The sessions discussed modern awareness and prevention mechanisms and the role of educational institutions in addressing the issue.
The event concluded with honoring the participating entities. The College affirmed that organizing such a forum falls within the university’s responsibility to protect students, promote positive behavior, and strengthen a culture of sustainable prevention.
