Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, President of Tikrit University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hassan Hussein Ibrahim, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdulkhaliq Alwan Muhaimid, along with a number of faculty members, students, and human rights advocates, Tikrit University held a central celebration marking Human Rights Day under the slogan:
“Together, we can create a brighter, fairer, and more inclusive world.”
The event took place on Tuesday morning, December 9, 2025, in Al-Khwarizmi Hall.
The ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the playing of the national anthem and the Tikrit University anthem. This was followed by a speech delivered on behalf of the University President by the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hassan Hussein Ibrahim, who emphasized that Human Rights Day is an opportunity to renew commitment to human dignity, justice, and equality. He also highlighted the university’s dedication to integrating human rights principles into its curricula and activities, and to fostering a fair and safe academic environment that promotes student awareness, respects diversity, and reflects responsible citizenship.
The program continued with a speech by the Head of the Human Rights Division at Tikrit University, Assistant Lecturer Ihab Abdullah Muhaimid, who explained that the division works to promote a culture of rights and responsibilities on campus through awareness seminars, specialized research, and student activities aimed at reinforcing the values of justice and respect. He affirmed the university’s ongoing commitment to its social role in this field.
This was followed by a speech delivered by the Director of the Human Rights Department in the Salah Al-Din Governorate Office, Mr. Waleed Khalid Kamel, who praised Tikrit University’s role in supporting human rights values and promoting awareness. He stressed that cooperation between governmental and academic institutions is a fundamental pillar in spreading human rights culture within the community, calling for continued joint efforts to build a society that respects human dignity and ensures equal opportunities for all.
The event also included a video presentation titled “Human Rights Make the World Brighter,” followed by a scientific lecture presented by Dr. Khalid Agab Hasson, a faculty member at the College of Law, entitled:
“The Role of Human Rights in Achieving the Principle of State Continuity.”
At the conclusion of the celebration, a field tour was organized to distribute awareness brochures to students, in addition to holding discussion circles aimed at enhancing human rights culture within the university community and promoting its values among students.
