Tikrit University Football Team Reaches the Semifinals of the Iraqi Universities Championship

The football team of Tikrit University continued its outstanding performance in the Iraqi Universities Football Championship, held in Baghdad Governorate, after qualifying for the semifinals by defeating the University of Diyala team in a penalty shootout, following an exciting and competitive 2–2 draw in regular time.

Since the start of the tournament, the Tikrit University team has delivered remarkable performances. They began their campaign with a victory over the University of Wasit team via penalty kicks, then secured their second win against Al-Israa University with a score of 2–1. They went on to defeat the Al-Mustansiriya University team 1–0 and concluded the group stage with a valuable win over the University of Diyala team in another penalty shootout, earning a well-deserved spot in the semifinals.

In the upcoming semifinal match, Tikrit University will face the University of Baghdad team on Sunday, in what promises to be a thrilling encounter as they aim to continue their journey toward the championship title.

On this occasion, the President of Tikrit University, Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, extended his warmest congratulations to the players and their technical and administrative staff, praising their tremendous efforts in representing the university in the best way possible. He affirmed that this achievement reflects the determination and perseverance that characterize Tikrit University students.
