President of Tikrit University Participates in the Annual “Women, Security, and Peace” Conference and Honors Winning Female Researchers

Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, President of Tikrit University, attended the activities of the annual conference entitled “Women, Security, and Peace,” which was held on Monday, 15 December, at the Royal Dreamland Hall – Al-Qadisiyah in Salah Al-Din Governorate. The conference was organized within the framework of implementing the National Strategy for Iraqi Women (2023–2030) under the Protection 

The conference was attended by a distinguished group of social, academic, and official figures from the governorate, including the Chairman of the Salah Al-Din Provincial Council, Mr. Adel Al-Sumaydai, and the Director General of Salah Al-Din Education, Mr. Ahmed Sami Taher, along with a number of academics, researchers, and individuals interested in women’s issues.

The conference proceedings opened with a speech affirming the Iraqi government’s commitment to strengthening women’s rights and reviewing the efforts exerted in implementing the government program supporting women through the national strategy, as a comprehensive framework for empowering and protecting women. Emphasis was placed on the importance of continuing efforts to achieve peace and activating national and international resolutions aimed at protecting women and enhancing their status in society.

For his part, the President of Tikrit University emphasized the heroic and pivotal role of Iraqi women in confronting challenges and difficulties, stressing the need to unify efforts and engage in serious cooperation to support decisions and measures concerned with protecting women, and to enhance opportunities for their participation in line with their scientific and creative capacities in various fields, particularly in education, learning, and capacity building.

He also called for concerted efforts to strengthen national confidence in women as genuine and effective partners in shaping Iraqi generations and building a promising and prosperous future for our beloved country, Iraq.

At the conclusion of the conference, Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf honored the top five winning researchers at the conference. First place was awarded to Dr. Sumaya Daham Kazem, Head of the Department of Political and Future Studies at the Salah Al-Din Al-Ayyubi Center – Tikrit University, in recognition of their outstanding research efforts and distinguished scientific contributions.
