President of Tikrit University Attends PhD Dissertation Defense at the College of Science

The President of Tikrit University, Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, attended on Tuesday morning, 23/12/2025, the defense of a PhD dissertation in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science.

The dissertation, entitled “Synthesis of New Pharmaceutical Compounds for Patients with Renal Failure and the Study of Their Effects on Certain Biochemical Variables,” was submitted by the student Osama Ahmed Hussein.

During his attendance, the University President reviewed the research themes and scientific objectives, commending the research efforts exerted and the importance of the topic for its role in supporting applied medical studies and serving the health sector. He emphasized the University Presidency’s commitment to supporting rigorous scientific research and encouraging postgraduate students.

The study addressed the evaluation of a set of biochemical, enzymatic, and hematological indicators in patients with chronic renal failure associated with hypertension, compared with a healthy control group. It also examined the properties of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) and the effect of a prepared inhibitor on it, in addition to synthesizing a chemical compound and a nanocomposite using silver nanoparticles and ultrasound technology.

At the conclusion of the defense, the University President praised the efforts of the College Deanship and the supervising committee, wishing the researcher continued success and excellence in his academic career.
