The Assistant President of Tikrit University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Hassan Hussein Ibrahim, chaired an extensive meeting with the directors of the university’s scientific journals to discuss several important topics related to improving performance and ensuring the quality of academic publishing.
The meeting addressed the issuance of the first edition of the Guide for the Operation of Scientific Journals at the University, as well as examining the reasons behind the removal of some journals from the international Scopus database. It also included discussions on research ethics and the importance of restructuring editorial boards in accordance with international accreditation standards.
The Assistant President emphasized the need for each journal to adhere to its specific academic scope, and the importance of activating the journals’ websites to ensure easy access and transparency in reviewing and publishing procedures.
The meeting also discussed mechanisms for implementing the DOI system (Digital Object Identifier) within the journals and establishing a process for paying its annual fees to ensure the continuous registration of research according to global standards.
The meeting was attended by the Director of Scientific Affairs, editors-in-chief of the scientific journals, the Scientific Promotions Committee, the Director of the Computer Center, the central committee overseeing the journals, the DOI committee, and the Director of Finance.
In conclusion, the Assistant President affirmed the university administration’s commitment to enhancing the quality of its scientific journals and aligning them with international publishing standards, thereby strengthening the university’s academic and research standing.
